Party in Pink is a global annual campaign from Zumba, dedicated to raising funds towards the fight against breast cancer. Between 1 September – 31 October 2020, Zumba instructors can host a special class or one-off event with proceeds going to either the global charities chosen by Zumba, or a breast cancer charity of their own choice.
With almost 140 women diagnosed every day, breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK. And, although rarer, around 350 men are also diagnosed with breast cancer every year. The good news is more than two-thirds of women now survive 20 years or more. Help Cancer Research UK find new ways to diagnose and treat the disease.Cancer Research UK
Firstly, in these times of uncertainty, it’s important to clarify this isn’t an actual ‘party’ or social get-together, it is an organised Zumba fitness class which, after this charity session, will continue to run on a weekly basis. There will be a very limited number of participants as with all sessions and booking in advance is absolutely essential so we can comply with the social distancing guidelines for indoor fitness classes. However, Zumba is well known for its party vibe, with instructors generally using visual rather than verbal cues, no break downs / run throughs of the steps and routines, just getting straight to it and dancing along to the world rhythms, raising the heart rate while having fun and hardly even realising you’re working out – a Zumba class really does feel like a party!
Want to Party in Pink at a Zumba class in Hampshire?
Join ‘en Joy dance fitness for a 40 minute Zumba class at 6:15pm on Friday 30 October at Colden Common Community Centre, with all proceeds from this first session going to Cancer Research UK. Each participant will receive a goody bag upon entry to the hall, containing a whole host of ‘pink stuff’, including LED (yes, reusable) glowsticks and bracelets which you are welcome to use in the class, an official Zumba rubber bracelet and an official Cancer Research UK pin badge. It would be amazing if participants could also wear something pink, but this is of course optional!
This is an official Party in Pink Zumba class approved by Zumba.com and funds will be donated to Cancer Research UK by ‘en Joy dance fitness via the Party in Pink Giving Page. ‘en Joy dance fitness still requires participants to book for the class in the usual way via this website, to ensure each participant has completed a Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire and that your details are on file in case they are required by the NHS test and trace system. Book your space here!
If you’re unable to make the class on 30 October but would still like to donate, please visit the Party in Pink Cancer Research UK Giving Page. Thank you!
