What to expect in a Dance Flow class

What is Dance Flow?

Dance Flow is all about slowing things down. As much as we love our high energy cardio at ‘en Joy dance fitness, we also know the importance of slowing things down, making time for mindful movement and gentle conditioning, while focusing on joint mobility, functional flexibility and balance.

What do we mean by functional flexibility? This class is definitely not about being able to do the splits or touch your head with your foot! Functional flexibility is simply about the ability to move more freely in everyday life.

It’s a completely standing session with no mat/floor work, ideal for those who cannot move comfortably to and from the floor, equally ideal for those who prefer a slightly more dynamic ‘dancey’ stretching session to mat based workouts. Some of our participants have likened the class to ‘standing pilates’ with a slightly dancier feel and set to a fantastic chilled out playlist – think Ed Sheeran and James Bay vibes!

Dance Flow is an expressive and uplifting movement class for all levels. Enjoy low intensity and low impact sequences in a flowing dance fitness fusion including gentle strength, flexibility and balance elements for an all-round functional but fun, ‘feel-good’ workout.

A combination of contemporary inspired dance and mindful movement, this class is ideal for a wide range of participants, from those wanting a gentle dance-based workout or to improve their balance, to those just wanting to add a little ‘me time’ and restorative movement to their week. You might be an ex dancer looking to get back in to a form of expressive movement, or you might be a complete beginner to dance fitness or have been inactive for a while and looking for your starting point, or even just looking to complement your existing exercise routine with something a little less demanding on the body, allowing you to recover and restore.

Zone into the uplifting music, switch off and enjoy some ‘you time’, releasing those ‘happy hormones’ in the brain and feeling fabulous both physically and mentally.
